Becoming like you.

Have you ever noticed that when you are in love you, become like the one you love?

Or have you experienced being a slave of your beloved?

There are two things love does to us. First we become like the one we love. Second we become the slaves of our beloved. Most of us adapt ourselves to our beloved. We somehow absorb qualities of our beloved into our own being.

The lover wants to please her beloved at all cost and in turn becomes the beloved’s slave. We can see all the crazy things humans do just to prove and win the affection of their beloved. Even if that means that the lover has to stoop down.

Now here is the problem. If we love something lower than us, like money, the flesh, fame and power, we become like them and are their slaves. If you love money, then the tendency is for you to be “like” money, You spend all your time thinking and obsessing about money and your time and energy pursuing it. And the only topic that comes out your mouth is money. It would be nice if actual money comes out of your mouth.

Now, is your beloved making you a better person? Or less?
